Been using this addon for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/complete-youtube-saver/
Needs ffmpeg installed to mux the video and audio files together but it can do VP9 videos which I do notice better quality compared to h.264.

That was the add-on I linked #18, if you want the good high bitrate-dash audio/video afaik that add-on is the only way, otherwise with ss/javascript you get the medium/low quality.
look at the utube streams available with the earlier link I posted.
LOL : had you noticed, next timeyou visit the ss site, you need to clear cookies otherwise it is more pursuasive about downloading their stuff
