Audigy 2 ZS, Audigy 4 and X-Fi all scored pretty similar on sound quality test in the reviews I've seen, so not much point in getting an X-Fi if you have an Audigy 4. An M-Audio or an Emu will give better results for music, but bare in mind it's a trade off against gaming performance.
As well as the cards mentioned (192, revo 5.1, emu) have a look at the M-Audio Audiophilpe 2496.
Works a treat, and sounds great. Use a preamp instead of a mixer, unless you already have a mixer hanging around. Admitedly, It's overkill for something skype, but it works well, and I like fiddling with the levels and stuff.
Personally I have not found a better SoundCard than the OnBoard of my old NF7S for playing Heavy Metal Music... Metallica / Nightwish / Dio / Twisted Sister etc all seemed to just love the SoundStorm.
Next best option was and I suppose still is the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. For its age, its a great card.
Creative? - PAH. I have a 2ZS, a 4 Pro and an XFI and none are any real cop for Heavy Metal Music but, I suppose the XFI is the only viable option of any creative card these days.
