Ive been fixing their pic of crap xcuse for a pc for the past 3 years, i imagin i will be dragged in atleast once a week fro this build ;)
When Norton pops up to say we stopped a virus they think they have one and painstakingly try and explain what happened lol
Right heres the build:

Im gona fork out the extra £10 for the card and ram upgrades for 2 reasons, one i find the brands more reliable and may make a merginal improvment to speed, two if i get bord i canalways install a game and play away in the back room
;)
This build compatable yeh?

Dear god don't let norton anywhere near this new build  get AVG free, or if you must pay Kapersky or NOD32.

Looks good, decent setup.

shadowake's right - i just checked my box and it's got one too - so you're sorted.

The xxx edition defo has one, built one two days ago and used it :D

It's compatible - i have no clue what the mobo is like.

If you want to save yourself some potential grief i would stick with the ASUS 4850 - as the xxx edition of that card does have some duff versions floating about. Plus, my Asus is a great clocker with the glaciator heatsink attached. (It's unlikely that you'll get a duff one - but they keep cropping up - and if you want a hassle free build then that would at least rule one factor out.)

I had a duff one :-s but im hoping that given i had a duff one this will be a good one lol.
It was very quiet so thats why i went for it, i will furmark it as soon as its installed to check :-)
Its all ordered now.
Man, all the gaming potential yet its maxpush will be photoshop while listening to music and browsing the web...oh well, the point of it is that that is all they will ever do so in theory they will never need to upgrade untill it dies on them.

And by happy coincidence you've specced it just powerful enough to play Crysis very comfortably - so no more boring hrs for you spent watching 'X-factor' or 'Britons got ***wits' when at your GF's house. ;)

I'd go for the athlon x2 250 or the phemom x2 550 as they are based on a newer core and therefore should have better clock for clock performance than the 7850

With his budget I dont think so...

the processors you've sugested are dearer to start, plus the extra for an am3 board and DDR3 ram. As a general family PC the spec sugested meets the budget and is more than capable. Plus will last many years without need for a cpu upgrade. By then im sure AM3 will be outdated anyway.
