Hey everyone,

I'm getting my new Maximus Formula board in today, and was going to replace the current mobo i have with this one. When taking of my CPU cooler, what is the best thing to do here, is it best to use some alcohol substance to remove the Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound i currently have on my CPU, then reaply the thermal compound? Whats the best way to go about this part when upgrading a mobo, also is there anything else i need to consider?

Also another quick question, do you guys think its better to go for the Coolermaster Cosmos Sport than the Coolermaster Cosmos if your willing to pay the extra £ for it? Using the system builder to build a PC for someone, and the Coolermaster Cosmos seems to be a good case, then was just thinking if its worth getting the Sport model.

Thanks in advance guys,

Yes, clean the CPU IHS and the bottom of the heatsink with alcohol or acetone and a lint-free cloth (not terry cloth). The purer the solvent the better. When you're done apply new sauce per the manufacturer's instructions.

I think all the Cosmoses are terribly overpriced. I think you'd be better off with an Antec P182 or a Lian-Li of some manufacture.

Thanks BillytheImpaler, i'll have to try get hold of some appropriate alcohol then, as for the cases, the PC builder has the following cases to choose from, where i am going to pick a nice cool/quiet case:

Antec Nine Hundred
Antec P182 Gun Metal Black
Coolermaster Cosmos
Thermaltake Armour Super VA8003BWS
Coolermaster Cosmos Sport

P182 all the way. It a lovely case in which you can work.

It'll fit huge heatsinks and SLI GTXes without a problem. It's plenty big for most people and it's a good cooler.

If you're a boy-racer get *** Antec 900. If not, get the sleek P182. Horses for corses.

The best lint-free cloth to use during cleaning is one from an optitions for cleaning your glasses. Costs about a quid. DONT USE METHS!

Hmm ,

Well not going to go sli (just one GTX), its using the Tuniq Tower 120 Silent CPU Cooler, overclocking to either 3.0 or 3.2 on the Q6600. Using the system builder here for this build, but the build isnt for me.
