What would be the best route ipads, android or windows based tablets to go down with regards to getting tablets for work purposes. It would be used to connect via VPN access and to networked drives (to a QNAP unit).
Which would be easiest and best suited for this purpose please if any is better than the others?

Thanks in advance :)

Any size preferences? Currently using the Surface Pro 4 for work, and it's a great tablet/laptop hybrid. There's also the cheaper Surface 3 option which also runs full Windows. Linx is another brand to consider for Windows as well which is more on the budget side. Connects to network drives with no problems at all, haven't tried VPNs but anything that works on a desktop/laptop will run fine on these.

Android and iOS... it really depends on what sort of work you do. Can't really recommend these for productivity use due to the UI.

not sure about size, it is not for me to use. I have setup VPN access for a friend. They are looking at getting a iPad to remotely access the files on the networked drives.. via a PPTP VPN. I know that on a ipad you need to use a file manager to map and access the network drives. Not sure how well VPN access on it works as I have no ipad. Was thinking whether a windows based tablet would be easier.

Depending on budget my first thought would be a surface. The surface 3 can be had very reasonable now and gives you the flexibility of full Windows. You don't have to rely on there hopefully being an app

Another vote for Windows based tablet.

Lenovo and Dell do some excellent deals, but, a Surface (or Surface Pro) would be my pick if the budget was available :)

I would consider Dell Venue 11
costs around £200
maybe not as powerful as surface, but screen is quite good.no fans.battery is ok
