I use the http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=TH-000-AC to loosen off the old TIM, it can get it all off. After that I give it a quick wipe with Isopropyl. I like doing it 100% perfectly lol. If I touch it with my finger by accident I will wipe it again hah.

If its a *really* stubborn CPU, dunk it in gravy first. Beef for Intel, chicken if its AMD.

It won't - it's a ketone and getting this anywhere near plastic is liable to dissolve it. I suggest Methylated Spirit or maybe a drop of Turpentine or White Spirit, if you cant get hold of any IPA. As suggested no reason why a drop of vodka or whisky wouldn't work. For £7 a shot at those Tim things I think id rather spend £25 on a bottle of Glenfiddich use 10 ml to clean it and drink the rest.

A tiny bit of isopropyl alcohol and a sponge/paper towel does the trick.
