Hi, I'm an experienced AAA game developer and although I've worked on desktop PCs for ever, I need to get a laptop for work. I wondered whether there are Black Friday or New Years sales that I should look out for to pick up a bargain?

I'm interested in specific retailers or general advice. I'm also interest if anyone's recently seen an amazing deal on a high-end laptop, or even particular models that I should look at?

Thanks!

TBH likely good to look in the January sales; but usually the best time to buy is "now". Because there's always something better just around the corner that's worth waiting for - if you wait for that then there'll be something better on the horizon..!

The only retailer we're allowed to mention is our host. There seems to be a certain amount of slack in here when talking about manufacturers' web sites but don't expect anyone to give pointers to other retailers 'cos the rules say we can't.

Echo what @blueacid says. Best time to buy is when you can as there is always going to be something either on offer or new on the horizon. Between now and Jan you will have Cyber Sales, Last minute Xmas Gift Sales, Boxing Day then Jan Sales, so there should be some bargains knocking about.

Also high end can be very subjective, do you have a budget in mind or specific requirements e.g. MUST be 16" OLED or Will only use Intel CPU etc ?

If you're working for a game studio at the minute, it might be worth checking in with the IT team there for recommendations as they will almost certainly have suppliers/brands/models in mind that they order for various job roles. If it's anything like the studio I currently work for, the main requirement from my team for most roles are RAM quantity above all else followed by either CPU or GPU performance depending on the role and then storage quantity. For the most part, every device we buy is a high end "gamer" device to fit either studio working or flexible remote working.
