For making tuna sandwiches, what's the best kind of tinned tuna to get? I opened a tin of John West No Drain Tuna Steak in Brine last night, but it was very poor quality, a lot of skin and black bits in there :( Was this just bad luck or is there a trick I'm missing?

Princes in springwater is what I usually have, no black bits in that (there was in the last can of John West I had).

Couldn't eat Tesco value tuna. For starters, it's like smush in a can; secondly, my mum used to get it for our dog so it will now forever be, in my mind, dog food :D

We get Tesco normal tuna - or John West/Princes/whatever, if it's on offer.

Tried a fair few brands and I think Sainsburys Chunks in brine is pretty good, if not then I'll take Princes in brine (if on offer)

I have Princes tuna chunks in brine, absolutely lovely for sandwiches with a dollop of mayonnaise added and some sweetcorn. :) Tesco chunks in brine (not value but normal) also very good.

Tesco value in brine for me. Love brine, drain a little bit out of the can, throw it into a little lunch box, wack some pepper on it, give it a shake about, top class snack meal! Nom nom nom!!!

Not technically tinned but Asda Extra Special Yellowfin tuna steak in olive oil. About £1.89 a pouch, I refuse to go back to tinned tuna after having this stuff.

Tesco Value in brine because I'm poor.. but go for chunks not flakes.. an extra 15p or so a tin, but well worth it lol :D :D

EDIT: I hope you realised I spent my 2000th post on this tuna status haha.. such a privilege ;)
