Best TV ~£350

Bumping this...

I'm also looking for a TV for a similar budget, maybe a little more if it's worth it.

The Samsung seems brillianr for the money. How do the current deals on RS compare to it now. There's a couple Panasonic offerings for not much more.

I'm not bothered for smart TV features etc it'll mainly be driven from my PC. I just need to work out if 48-50" really is too big for my needs. The best panel I can get for around that budget is m main concern whilst still being nice and thin without massive bezels.

Anyone, is there anything better than the UE48H5000?

The Samsung UE40H6400 looks like a great TV if you're after something a little smaller, just bought one for the bedroom and I can't fault it for the price. The picture is comparable in quality to my Sony 829.

I guess you don't know much about SoGA or your consumer rights. If a TV breaks after 13 months you can just go to a small claims court and win, and get the TV replaced or repaired. You have up to 5 years after your purchase to make a claim. That is why JL and RS offer that warranty because they would lose either way.

I do know about it in fact I claimed under it for a PS3 many years ago.

The problem is currys will actually tell you to do one and you will actually need to take them to court. Then you have to prove it was a manufacturing defect and not wear and tear as well as risk losing and paying legal fees, etc.

Why put yourself through all that when you can just buy from John Lewis? Only a moron would think going to court is better than getting a 5 year warranty.

Do you guys find that the colour shifts (degrades) when you look at it from an angle rather then dead on ? Also how are the blacks are they detailed or bright due to the ips panel ?

Not the thread to go into here. But you do not have to prove there was a manufacturing fault, or a defect. Under SoGA "goods be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose". If it breaks then you can claim. That is it. Put in a claim for £25/35 depending on the value and you will win if you particulars have shown you made effort to resolve this before going down this route. End of the day it doesn't matter where you buy it as you are covered under SoGA which supersedes some crap warranty from a retailer.

Hardly some crap warranty RS and JL have excellent customer service.
Many threads on here and AVF about people having to work hard to get covered under soga.
