Hi All

I need to upgrade my PC to be able to play Witcher 3. My current build give me around 5 seconds per frame.:-(

Currently:
Intel i7 920
Gigabyte GA EX38 m/b
6 Gb DDR3 1333
XFX GTX260 896Mb graphics
Atrix 800W PSU

Around 5 years old now, it's played everything I've thrown at it. Not necessarily on Ultra and 1920x1080 max. Mostly RPG and FPS.

I'm going to go for a an SSD drive for the the OS and game files anyway but what else? Budget is around £200-250 at the moment so I can't have eveything?

a) Is it worth getting another GTX260 and trying SLi?
b) New m/b and processor? i5? fleabay?
or
c) New graphics card?

Will any one thing do to make the Witcher 3 playable or do I just put the game on the shelf until I can afford the complete build?

I'm surprised that the Witcher 3 does run so badly but I can't find any faults and Witcher 2 is fine at around 30fps on ultra.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

id pick up a 970 for now should run the witcher 3 although not at max settings. I think anything above a 970 may be bottlenecked by that cpu. Im in the same boat as you so but im just saving for a complete new setup :)

1. GPU.
2. SSD.

Something like:

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI Radeon R9 380 Gaming 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £179.99
1 x Samsung 250GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive (MZ-75E250B/EU) £79.99
Total : £269.58 (includes shipping : £8.00 Ex.VAT).

3. As soon as you have a bit more cash - new better quality PSU. That Atrix has done well to last 5 years.

Thanks for the info everyone.

I'm surprised I can go that up to date with the GPU on the CPU I've got but I'll take your advice and upgrade that first.

Was there any particular reason for choosing the R9 380 instead of a GTX960?
