I'm lost in the sea of SSDs. I'm looking at getting a 120gb SSD for my boot drive, my documents (my music, downloads, etc), core programs (firefox/steam/office) and a few games I'll transfer on and off there.

The motherboard I'll be pairing it with is probably a Z68 extreme 4 gen 3. I'm not sure what the differences in controllers or what ones on the board. A friend told me I should look into getting a PCI card though? I usually do my own research and follow reviews but reviews for SSD seem to be scarce.

There are so many older models that are now cheaper and newer models that are also cheaper than others. Is there that much of a difference in price? Would like to spend under £150 if possible. Currently considering the Force 3.

Halp?

the best value 120gb ssd? surely thats just the cheapest 120gb then :confused:

Not neccesarily. The cheapest one could be VERY slow and VERY unreliable. Hence it's still not worth the price. So it's bad value.

if your using marvel controller better off with m4 if not get corsair force 3

I'll try to google what controller it uses on the Extreme4 Gen3.

hehe - i think we have different opinions on the meaning of "best value", personally i would have phrased it - "best bang-for-buck 120GB SSD" :p

Yeah, maybe. Bang for buck, best value. All mean the same to me :P.

Any idea how to find out what controller is on the extrem4 Gen3? I don't have the board yet and google isn't turning much up.
