Best Value Haswell 1150 cpu cooler

i5 Haswell cooler

Need a decent cooler. Not sure current xigmatek 1283 cooler will fit. Is there a budget freezer 7 kind of cooler for socket 1150 ? Thanks

If your current cooler has a bracket that supports skt 1155/1156 it will fit haswell too. It uses the same mounting holes.

Its currently in a 775 mobo. I don't recall any additional brackets with the cooler when I got it. Same holes as a P5K board. I'm good yes ?

The 1155/6 and 1150 use different holes for mounting than s775. You would need to purchase a compatible bracket to keep using the current cooler if one suitable wasnt supplied with it.

One thing I will chip in... I'm using a TRUE 120. On my old i5 750 push/pull made no noticeable difference in temps. With my i7 4770K, push/pull makes between 10 and 20c difference.

Everything else has remained the same other than CPU / mobo / paste application. Pretty sure I used the same paste too.

intriguing, what paste application method did you use?

@ OP

I got the coolermaster hyper 212 eve and it is perfectly fine. Good balance between price and performance.

Have you looked at the Arctic Cooling Freezer 13? It's not much more than the freezer 7.

I've got one cooling my 3570k; It comes pre-applied with MX-2 thermal paste which is one of the best thermal pastes around. Hexus did a group review with it included.

It's great value for money. Today (ambient temp is ~20C and CPU is at stock speeds) and its running at 35C on idle, never goes about 60C on modern games (BF3, FC3 etc) and it maxes out at 70C on the intel burn test (which arguably isn't a fair way to judge temps as it pushes the CPU beyond what 99% of applications do). I dont know whether this is good or not, it seems decent to me for the money.

It's also quiet;which is again subjective (reviews tend to agree with this!)
