to be honest with you i would rather have the speaker wires than have to plug the speakers in to the electric

Bear in mind that you will still have wires to the speakers for power, just not the audio cables. wireless does not nessecerarly mean no wires.

I do tend to agree but most modern houses do have plenty of plugs and it better than having wires trailing from one end of the room to the other, I'm trying to invent wireless power :)

HEADRAT

but how many house have plug sockets 15-20inch from the ceiling?

still means you have to run a cable down the wall assuming you are wall mounting them.

The thing is, there HAS to be a wire of some sort, be it either an audio lead for a wired system, or power lead for a "wireless system.
To remove the need to have a wire from the sub/amp to the rear speaker would mean a wifi/IR signal, which would need a power supply to receive the signal. The only exception to this would be a speaker that ran on batteries, but I don't know of any that do.

Just run some flat cable under the carpets, much less hassle if your going to keep it setup that way for a few years :)

first time round that's what i did ran flat cable up the wall in the corners and papered over it looked fine, could only just see it up close.

I think headrat has the logitech 5450 system with the wireless rear speakers..(But they still need power cables ;) )
