My new 970 comes today. I currently have a 280x installed. As simple as uninstall amd drivers, remove and put new card in?

Also with the 970, can I cap it at 60fps as my projector only max supports that.

Thanks :)

Uninstall AMD drivers, reboot into safe mode, use DDU and shut down option, swap cards and install Nvidia drivers.

That's how I would do it :)

RE fps capping. You can use something like MSI afterburner to set a global frame cap for all your games or set them to whatever you want individually.

I just went from a 7970 to 970. I just uninstalled the amd software fully, turned it off, fitted new card then installed the latest nvidia drivers. All was ok with mine, not that I have had chance to use it much yet

I wouldn't recommend 3rd party driver uninstallers unless the regular uninstaller fails.

Also re: FPS cap, wouldn't enabling vsync and making sure the display is set to 60 Hz do the job?

I went from amd to amd lol

Even I had to uninstall, use DDU then install the card and install latest drivers... swapping cards over even from the same maker is still risky for driver conflicts

Never ran into any issues with DDU, I'd highly recommend it when switching manufacturers as they leave a lot of unwanted rubbish on your system. It's good housekeeping if nothing else.

Take your PC to the nearest Priest and get him to perform an excorcism on that devil incarnate machine and then run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller), clean out the AMD drivers. Turn off the computer, plug in new shiny nVidia goodness GPU and install the latest nVidia drivers :)

I had no problems the other day leaving the drivers installed (14.6) when I swapped quadfired HD 5970s for a single HD 7970.

Booted up fine first time.:)

Ensuring that you have the right tools before you start is very important.:D
