Im wanting to use my laptop for web browsing and emails ect. and my gaming rig for just gaming. So i dont clutter it up with crap. Iv found it awsome been able to switch my monitor from one 2 the other but having to have 2 keyboards and 2 mice is anoying? can i get a switch that i plug them both into and i get 2 cable that go to both pcs so 2 inputs with 4 output. I would input 1 mouse...1 keyboard..gives out 2 mice 2 keyboards.?

does that let you switch between monitor, keyboard and mouse. nice one
KVM == Keyboard, Video, Mouse. I've used a 4-port Belkin OmniCube for years and it makes things much simpler. I would like to find a KVM that handles DVI though.

im looking for a KVM myself but i cant seem to find one where all the wires plug into the back.

not too keen of the ones where the wires plug into the sides and back etc... looks messy.

If they're on a network, google for open-source program Synergy :D

It's a bit confusing to set up but once it's sorted it's excellent, had the lappy and PC next to each other and just moused across, the keyboard works in whatever window you've got in focus as usual...

'Black Box' make nice ones where all the cables go into the back.
Not terribly cheap though.

And with most KVM's, they need a PS2 keyboard and mouse.
USB -> PS2 converters tend not to work at all in KVM's.

Found that our recently which is well odd, the Belkin KVMs I have only need one USB connector to the PCs USB port and it simulates both keyboard and mouse. Very annoying as it's getting harder to get decent PS2 mice/keyboards.
