Was cold called by a very nice lady from Vodafone today and talked into signing up for an additional contract for the wife. Who subsequently went mad  !! I thought she used her phone more than she does (a fiver a month she says, a lot cheaper than the 20 a month I signed up for).

I need to cancel it. I tried stopping it before it got started by phoning Vodafone but got nowhere. At the time I was told that I would have 14 days to change my mind once I got the package. The second time I phoned the guy told me to just refuse delivery of the phone and it would automatically cancel. This seems a bit high risk, what happens if it goes missing etc. But it is the option the wife favours who will be the one at the delivery address. Would it be best to take delivery and go about cancelling it at that stage. Ideas/thoughts.

ive heard of this refusing delivery before.......wouldnt give me much confidence either.

But i guess the signature is also like signing a contract in the shop?

just wait until you get the phone. then phone them and say you dont want it. you have 14 days to cancel it.

dont refuse the delivery as it'll just take longer. you can also return it to a store.

Hi goreblast,

Just to confirm what people have already said, you do have 14 days peace of mind whenever you take a new connection or an upgrade through Vodafone stores or over the phone from us directly. There are two options to get this returned:

1) Accept the delivery then call 191 and tell us you've changed your mind. We'll arrange a collection to pick up the handset and close off the account once it's back. As long as you haven't used the phone there'll be no line rental or call charges to be paid at all. It's best to give us a quick call on 191 about a week later to confirm it's all been returned and closed off.

2) Refuse the delivery, the handset will then be returned to us. A few days later, call 191 and just confirm it's all been cancelled.

Either way it'll take a similar amount of time, just with option 2 you don't have to wait in for us to collect it, saving you a day. It's not possible to return a handset to a store if it's been taken out over the phone unfortunately. Stores use different systems to our telesales teams.

Hope this helps,
