Best way to clean out your case?

Hi all,

Was taking a few pictures of my setup earlier and I noticed it needs a major dust, I have 9 fans in my stacker and they dont half pull in some crap.

Anyway how do you clean your case? Obviously its important that you dont damage any of your components or get any static in to the case, so what method do you use?

I used to use an anti static cloth that I got with my thermal take tsunami a while ago, but thats had its day now.

Its time for some new ideas.

Cheers

I nuke mine from orbit occaisionally, it's the only way to be sure.

Really I just dust around with a cloth when my PC is off. Works a treat. Infact, I can't ever remember cleaning it but if I was going to, that's what I'd do... either that or kill the dust with fire.

You could get an air duster (can of compressed air) to blow the dust away, but for what they are they are quite expensive.

I usually just get a very slightly damp cloth and wipe away any dust/dirt from inside my case.

Hope this helps :)

If its a old PC and you hold all the fans down so they do not spin then a air compressor can remove a decades worth of dust to the air in seconds.

What I use on donated PC's to clear all the dust and dead spiders out.

Argh thats my line!

I find a slightly damp 1" and 3" Natural fibre get em from arty shops etc. paintbrush very handy for getting the dust out of my sights, errr Stacker. With the thing off and unplugged of course. For buffing some mr muscle orange kitchen cleaner brings up the rest of the case a treat as well. (am i allowed to advertise mr muscle gibbo ;) )

Just use a Hoover, if your touching the case static go's from being a non-issue ( Hoover's grounded so shouldn't be any ) to a total non-issue, but some people advise not to drive the fans with it. I do and havn't had an issue but I guess it's a sensible precaution.

That hoover is still haunting me Kizz, im being stalked by a USB hoover :D

Yer, I think the canned air is going to be the best option, and probably the safest aswell. Theres too much money inside that case to risk static build up in anyone of the components

I got that, powered it on for 5 minutes, the thing cut off and never turned back on again lol :D :p

I just use a cloth, i buy compressed air once a year maybe, but dont buy it often due to it costing around £5 per can.

Compressed air makes the job a lot quicker, but i dont mind spending time on my pc when its filthy so i just use a cloth, warm water and hoover for the air filters. Ive been told to get a paint brush to clean the fans, although i havent got round to it yet. :)

my computer doesnt need cleaning, its not on the floor so it doesntt get taht dusty, and I am replacing stuff often enough that I only clean it when i put in a new component etc.
