Best way to format a drive?

Hey folks,

So im doing an upgrade to Vista today, I just wanted to know what the best way of formatting my new hard drive would be?

Is it ok to just plug it into my current setup, and do a format through disk manager to NTFS?

to be perfectly honest, doing it that way is almost definitely the best way

Define 'best'

The above way is what I always do and never had any problems. Unless you want to do a low-level format or something?
