Hi,

whats the best way to get DVI to SCART off a mac mini, adapter cable or some USB device?

Also i take it a 1.5ghz core solo with 512mb of ram would be ok for DVD,Divx, VLC playback onto a TV.

TIA

would that not be the wrong way around

want to play dvd's off the mac onto the tv hence DVI --> SCART

thanks

no not got a HDTV hence wanted DVI ---> SCART, unless it's not possible to use a mac mini with a scarted tv

Wire it yourself?

If you want any help I'd be glad to talk you through the soldering process, it's rather easy to do scart :)

Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adaptor is definitely what you want. Your macbook supports it:

From the MacBook specs page:
Composite and S-video output using mini-DVI to video adapter (sold separately)

Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter

The Mini-DVI to Video adapter is designed for the iMac (Intel Core Duo), MacBook, and 12-inch PowerBook G4, allowing you to connect to most S-video or Composite enabled devices.

Then you just need an S-Video and a Stereo jack to RCA cable and your set.

The OP has a mini Mac - just to clarify, I think you need to buy the cable specified for the mini mac as I hear Apple have several types of 'mini-DVI' cable, which vary from one machine to another and are (apparently) not inter-operable. Check the 'review' comments on the apple store website - some very annoyed customers.

thanks for all the replys / ideas :D

think i've found what i need, nether thought to look on the apple site - lol

http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObj...J8Q3V3CExLFxNEANvrA1/1.0.21.1.0.8.25.7.11.5.3

which says :-

Apple PAL DVI to Video Adapter

Use the PAL version of the Apple DVI to Video Adapter to connect the DVI port on Power Mac G5 or Mac mini to any S-video or Composite enabled device based on the PAL video format.
