I work for Nokia so have all my mobile needs pretty much catered for by the company, but since joining I have continued to use my on contract omnia as I was paying for it and it was on my number that everyone knows.

My omina contract number is great (ie the actual number is easy to remember etc) and I want to keep it when my contract is up, but even though my Nokia contract is a personal one (ie they dont know the number) the account is owned by them and thus I cannot port to it myself..

...so whats the best thing to do with my current omnia number? Can you actually port to a pay as you go sim? Do theses expire after a certain amount of time?

Thanks.

Should be no problem asking your provider to convert your contract into a PAYG, if they dont offer that its easy enough to request your PAC and move to a PAYG sim. I think all PAYG sims require some sort of top up over x amount of time, should be easy to find out by looking at afew providers websites

I have Orange and Vodafone PAYG sims on a spare phone and a PC autodialler.
To remain active, neither need regular top-ups, but they do need using occasionally. I just send a text from each one once a month to my regular mobile phone.
