i currently have a intel x25 v 40gig ssd
its been used for OS only ( win 7 )
all my progs / pics / downloads etc etc have been placed on another hdd, after a fresh install im left with 18gig, but as time goes by im now only left with 5.2 gig
is there anything i can do to make some more space on this ?

Yep , be aware that everytime an app crashes , windows 7 stores a pile of data on disk for this.
I am in work right now and dont have the location handy , last time I removed these files

haha sorry guys for the late reply.

Once i had done a fresh install i got into windows, turned off hibernation aswell as system restore & moved my pagefile to my other HDD.
I then went into turn windows features on and off and unticked a few like windows gadgets, media which includes media player, media centre and DVD maker, tablet comp, games and a couple more.
It will ask you to restart.
I then ran SSD Tweaker, restarted the installed all the updates.
I then downloaded Media Player Classic Cinema and the basic mega codec pack.
After that i installed mozilla, ccleaner and a few more programs.
Once fully updated i checked my install on C: and it was just under 9GB.

well, done a fresh install and got it after install with updates, pagefile moved and various windows nonsence that isnt needed down to 11gig install

i have tried vlite were you can make hooooge savings, i had one install down to 6gig in size but something went wrong on the very last section of install ( finalizing )
will read up and try it again

But as well over time the Windows WINSXS folder (stores dll version etc.) increases in size and you cannot shrink it (mine is over 7GB after 10 months). So a fresh install will always be smaller no matter how many utilities like ccleaner are used.
