Best way to pack behind an electrical box?

I got a bit trigger happy with my sds chisel and chiselled out more than the 22mm brick I needed to. There is a gap of about 20mm in some areas which makes it difficult to screw the 47mm electrical box to the brick.

Could I use some bonding plaster and carefully screw the box in to that once it sets?
 
Anything which sets hard is best, something like drywall adhesive or tile adhesive both set like rock...
 
How much brick is available behind the box to screw into? Enough to drill a hole and screw a longer screw into? If so, then I'd just pack it with anything available - bits of brick (from when you chiseled out), bits of wood. Enough to fill the gap to stop the box pulling pulled too deep when you drive the screw home.

I'm in the middle of fitting two 2G sockets and a 1G aerial into a bedroom wall at the moment and, like you, with an SDS drill I caused some deeper penetration (who-er, missus) in one or two places than I'd have liked. But the way I see it, once I've plastered around it, it'll be fine and I'm not swinging off the faceplate.
 
I'd just pack it with some cardboard, once the back box is screwed in the front plate will hide any mess and firm it all up why over think it?
 
I would have needed a lot of cardboard :)

In the end I used bonding purely as I needed some for elsewhere and I have a plasterer coming tomorrow and he can use the rest.

Did the job but I can see why some of the suggestions mentioned harder materials. It's a bit soft so had to be careful when drilling the wall plugs. Thanks for the suggestions.
 
Bonding.

The only exception would be on an external, or damp wall. Bonding can pull the moisture through, in which case S+C.
