best way to play fallout 3 goty for first timer?

No. Weakest and least original expansion. Moderately useful if you specialise in energy weapons, but only moderately.

Nah man, it was better than that anchorage one. At least it had some looting. The anchorage one was just boring shooting, followed with some broken rewards that pretty much ruin the rest of the game.

In fact, that's a good tip for the OP. Take that chinese suit, and throw it into the entrance of vault 87.

Ive tried for the 3rd time to get into fo3 and its annoying me again. I seem to have different mouse sens between menu and game thats reallly annoying and even on the lowest setting its too high:(

Slight topic hijack, I'm playing through for my first time too, but have heard loads about texture mods. I'm not looking for anything to really change the gameplay or anything (Though I have installed Mart's Mutant mod), but I juts want the game looking the best it can. So, with all the differetnt texture packs out there... which is the best one to use?

Just started playing this game for the first time. Would love to know about any mods etc.

Seems confusing at first in exactly the same way Oblivion can be, with never really knowing what you 'should' be doing lol. (same dev's I know :-))

Will defo be interested in texture mod's and other things if I can complete the game :-)

I sped through the main quest, didnt do any exploring and now I cant face playing the game again to discover the side quests.

Just dont rush through it, take your time and explore every nook and cranny.

If you just play the game like I did, your impressions of the game will most likely be that its a massive dissapointment, its not as repetetive as the oblivion main quest but if you just play the game this way then youre not doing it right.

Trouble with Oblivion and all these questie games, is that you are in danger of getting side tracked and forgetting what the heck it was you were meant to be doing lol. Lost track of the number of times I tried to get back into Oblivion and completely forgotten where I was the previous year lol.

I will try and do all the little bits on the way though, I'm sure I will miss LOADS of things though.

has anyone ever had a stuttering type problem with this game? its really starting to get to me now, its like a loading pause but its happening so much and even during areas/fights that shold be fully loaded i think.
ive tried using the addon called fosr and it helped a bit but stuttering and pauses are still there, any ideas?

It may be hitting the 2Gb memory limit, at which point it has to start writing to the page file/fiddling around with what textures to keep in the ram.

That's a mod that'll fix it. Only downside is that it exits the Fallout3.exe you use to run the game making it large address aware, but Games for Windows Live obviously sees that the .exe is no longer the one that game with the game, so there is no access to it, meaning no achievements and so on.

Of course, it may be something else, such as reading from the hard drive, which only an SSD will fix :3

There might be a fix for it. I'm pretty sure when you run Fallout3 Script Extender it no longer allows for achievments either, but there is a mod or fix or whatever that makes it keep track of them.
