Best Way To Play Gamecube Through TFT ?

As title.
I've got a crappy 14" CRT Telly to play my Gamecube on.
The best screen I own is a 19" Viewsonic TFT Monitor. I'd very much like to play the Gamecube (Specifically the upcoming Zelda) through this instead. The 19" Dell CRT Monitor would be preferable too.
I know the 'Cube doesn't support this out the box (It's a recent PAL one).

I've seen 2 options :

- A Logic 3 Converter Box where you plug in component / S-Video from a console or DVD; it converts to VGA (Can't link, I think ? or is console stuff OK ?) This doesn't need to have the PC on but does anyone know what the quality's like ? If you've used one (for any console) what's it like ? does it support 60HZ too?

- My X1800XT has Avivo functionality. Obviously the PC has to be on for this. I'm sure by some cable blaggery I can input the 'Cube through some format to this then to the monitor. Any experience with this way for any consoles ? Is it easy to get full screen ? How's the scaling ? (AND how the hell would I do this ? - Re software)

Any hints will be very much appreciated.

TV cards and GPU video inputs generally give poor picture quality for consoles imo. You are best getting a decent VGA convertor and using component to VGA. X2VGA box is one of the best, cheap convertors can be very poor. It will set you back a bit though and the gc component cables are expensive. Not really worth it to be honest, you would be better off selling your 19" tft and getting one with component inputs like the widescreen Dell 2007.

edit: just realised the Dell 2007fpw lacks component inputs, you'd need the Dell 2407 etc. S-video and composite inputs (Dell 2007fpw) will give a worse picture.

The Dell 2007 lets you input TV ? How can you tell from the description ? What is the name for the input ?

Seeing as I already have the Monitor, X1800XT & the relevant cable - do you know how I can get the cube to display on the TFT - I have the latest Catalyst 6.9 Drivers. I'd like to see how crap it is because I've been playing with the yellow phono cable on a small telly with mono sound so it wouldn't have to be amazing. Do I need an additional program to display the input from the avivo socket or can cataylst do this somehow ?

Thanks for taking the time.

Also - I get confused with the cables - the yellow (video), red & white (Audio) - Are they composite or component ?

And the other is the RGB I assume ?

I'd like to know this too. I love my wee cube :D
I currently use an NEC 20.1 inch widescreen. It's a great monitor but has no input other than DVI and VGA.
Any cheaper VGA boxes that are good quality but not 100 quid?

I researched this a bit more & it really seems like you can't get decent picture quality with this kind of forced conversion of the signal. Not without spending a lot anyway.
I came to the conclusion that an LCD TV with some kind of AV inputs is probably the best route as it can also be used as a PC monitor. But that's out of my budget for now, so I'll just keep playing on the little telly.
I guess you might find a decent one for £50 but that's a lot of money really.

Lik-sang sell a decent £30 progressive scan component to vga converter. It's just a shame that the people at nintendo were too lazy to make a vga cable for their wii like every other next gen console has.

Am i right in saying that if i had a Dell 2407 it has the component inputs?
If i bought the digital component cable for the gamecube that would plug straight into the dell?
Also do i set the cube to 480p or the monitor or is it all automatic? I don't quite get that stuff.
Finally, the Dell wouldnt be in its native resolution i'm sure, so even though the gamecube is sending its best possible signal, is it gonna look blurry and crap on the monitor?

I don't know about the Dell 2407, but the cube will do 480i as it boots up etc until you insert a game. I don't think any PAL games ever had progressive scan/480p mode enabled which is why some people (like me! :D) went with imports. I know a PAL console with the digital port using the freeloader disc and import games will output in 480p.

Anyway on booting a 480p enabled game, a message pops up (since you are using the component cable) asking if you want to enable progressive scan.

oh! so basically theres no point in me going out of my way to run in 480p when none of the uk games support it anyway (my whole collection lol)
I'm glad u told me that, i owe u a pint!
