Hi all,

I've not Jailbroken for a long time, but I've finally decided I'd like to upgrade my phone's OS to a newer version.

From a quick glance at the forums it looks like I want to be on 4.3.3 I'm currently on 4.1.

Is it possibly to upgrade to 4.3.3 or would I have to go to 4.3.5 and back again?

Thanks,

G

Do you have your SHSH Blobs for 4.3.3 at all? As this is the only way you can go to 4.3.3 as Apple don't sign this version any more.

You would have to go to 4.3.5 now.

I'll be honest I have absolutely no idea what that means.

All I know is I'm on 4.1 Jailbroken and I would like to be jailbroken again as I hate my phone without sbsettings. But there is an app that I would like to buy called Oremote that needs a newer version than I'm on.

As does Sky Go.

If you don't no what it means chances are you don't have them backed up. You may only be able to go to 4.3.5.

Do you have Cydia on your phone? Open Cydia and see what it says at the top of Cydia. It should have some firmware numbers like 4.0, 4.1, 4.3.5. e.t.c it might not be them ones but it should say some numbers. What are they?

It says SHSH: iOS 4.1,4.2.1,4.2b3

If I can go to 4.2.1 that might let me use Sky Go, but oremote needs 4.3+

Your SHSH tells me you don't have 4.3.3 SHSH Blobs saved, which means you can only go to firmware 4.1, 4.2.1, 4.2b3 and 4.3.5.

Do you really need a jailbreak? 4.3.5 can be used with a tethered jailbreak, which means every time you reset your phone you have to connect it to the computer and use redsn0w to boot in tethered mode until an untether is released.

The main reason I use it is for sbsettings, activator, infini folders, 5 icon dock etc etc. Lots of things that should have been included in the first place but weren't. I would really miss them all though.

To the extent that I'm wondering if I should wait for 4.3.5 to be jailbroken properly.

Has anything like this been added to the new version?

Also these blob things? Can you download them?

I don't think I could put up with my phone without activator or sbsettings. Just simple things like being able to set the up down volume buttons to change tracks and pause/play so that I don't have to use the rubbish apple headphones is a HUGE reason to JB for me.

Thanks,

G

The thing is though comex is now working for Apple. They were one of the best jailbreakers out there for iPhone devices. I really don't no if any more jailbreaks will come out. Maybe we might see something official? I don't know what will happen now.

If that is the case I will have to stick with 4.1 till I get an iPhone 5 or till a new jailbreak comes out. My own fault for not updating in so long.

Not had a chance to try that method but not so sure if it will work or not. I think what it's doing is assuming you have 4.3.3 installed but can't get passed recovery.

You then use iFaith to grab the SHSH files for 4.3.3 then restore with custom firmware. If this works I don't see why it wouldn't work with any firmware if that's the case!

Remember if you balls it up you have 4.1/4.2.1 SHSH saved so you an go back to that firmware if needs but may require patience and time!

This definitely doesn't work.

How can I go back to my old 4.1? lol Preferably with all my old settings etc.

I packed it up before I startd and I can see the backup in the prefences in itunes but have no clue how to go back.

I'm currently on 4.3.5 with everything restored, but not jail broken. So no sbsettings or infinifolders etc...so it's copied all the apps to screens instead of folders.

I would much prefer to go back to how it was before I started though lol

oh dear. It looked genuine to me but oh well this is the Internet.

What you need to do now is edit your host file to point to the Cydia servers. Download iPhone 4 GSM 4.3.3 firmware and apply it. If you error out and can't get passed the errors you may need to make custom 4.3.3 firmware.

I've tried all of that :( even the custom firmware I made with Snowbreeze wouldn't load up.

I had to get to 4.3.5 just to unbrick my phone.

I think it is completely impossible to go to a version which your phone doesn't have the blobs for.
