Best way to upgrade?

Sweet. :)

I know you referenced a Q6600 but still would I notice a big difference going from a E6750 to a Phenom II Quad 3.2GHZ?

Cheers

the reason i quoted the q6600 was its the same socket as the e6750. if you have the motherboard for the phenom then get which ever you can get the cheapest, as the performance leap will be roughly the same.

just had a looksie and the phenom would be slightly quicker at stock settings and the q6600 slightly quicker if overclocking. not much in it tho. get the cheapest is still my opinion.

Start of with a PSU, that is the heart of the build, like these people are saying if you splash out the cash for CPU+MOBO+RAM, even though your PSU is high in wattage if it goes bust you can say goodbye to your parts, and then be more in the S***. I will start of with a PSU, then a i52500k with a Asrock extreme4 gen 3 mobo with kingston grey RAM 8gb. That should cost all around with the new PSU around £350- £400. And mincecraft does not require that much graphics so a GTX 460 or a a 7770 will be fine

see the OP
I don't have the cash at the moment to build a new system

and if his PSU does go pop then he'll have to spend on everything so why do it if he doesn't have too? I'd go out on a limb and say his psu will be fine i have a hiper 480 that has been going strong for about 6 years iirc still used daily in my ball and chains pc.
