Best webcam editing program ( program what changes cam settings )

Im having trouble with my webcam. It seems to connect and disconnect.

I took of the back cover and had a look for any bad connections. All wires inside seemed fine and tightly connected. When i went to put the back cover on. it started to disconnect and connect. I put my hand over the light sensor it seems to disconnect then connect when i take my hand away. My first thoughts after realizing this when the lights are on full beam and it disconnects from the pc. Could this be lack of power? the lights stay on but the cam itself stops working.

So im wanting to know the best program what gives you control over your webcam settings. I want it to switch of the light sensor.

I have a program called AMCAP but it doesnt seem to switch of the lights,

Any ideas?

Use the Audio/Video setup wizard in Live Messenger to get to the webcam settings, and in there should be an "advanced" button (or something similar) which will open up the driver control panel for the webcam which will allow you to control the lights.

BTW, that will not fix the problem, only put a virtual plaster over it.

It seems to me as if the motherboard is not putting out enough power over the USB (+5v iirc), either you have too many devices running off of one USB port through the use of a port doubler or the PSU is not providing enough grunt through the +5v line to the motherboard.

cheers, when i use the live messenger settings it just re directs me to the AMCAP software i got with the cam. And that has an option to switch of the lights which doesnt work.

I am useing the USB port which powers my external harddrive, my bamboo tablet, my old r220 steering wheel ( not at same time of course). Its the same with the back of the motherboard aswell not just my front ports on the case. But to me the voltage thing makes more sense than putting direct light onto the cam still switches the lights on.
