I want to try my hand at doing some creative writing, but I'm not sure what software people use to do it. I'll need something to hold all of my research. For this, I was thinking of using OneNote, and then I thought I'd write the actual script in Word since I have both via Office 365, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions on software to use?

Use what you have. Both will work just fine. Surely more important to create the good story than how you type it.

I do a lot of report writing which involves descriptive paragraphs. A lot of the time I'll just open notepad and type large amounts plain text in it, then copy paste into the app.

I prefer notepad as it's just simple and fast where nothing gets in the way to distract you. Pick a font that you like so it is easy to read and type away.

I'd suggest using google drive.

Research and links can be posted in as files or via sheets.
Writing can be done on docs.

Install Grammerly on your browser to help with spellings etc.

You'll have access to it anywhere in case you suddenly have a burst of inspiration.
