Best XMBC Box

The newer graphic card drivers allow dts-hd on the celeron nucs. I have a n2820 and run kodi through win 7 64bit and it plays back dts-hd no problem :)

I've had a few xbmc boxes and to be honest the n2820 is the best of all I have tried. It also does auto frame rate switching which is the biggest problem with most boxes that are stuck at 60hz. I think in total with a 64GB ssd and 4GB ram it came to £150.

SO all you need to do is add the SSD and the RAM and it's ready to run Kodi?

I know you don't have to use the SSD but i'd rather use that than a USB

I feel that this is good.
I like this device so much.

Damn, that looks nice. I might have a look into that a bit more!

Regarding the NUC n2820 I have a question.

My RaspPi is slow with certain questionable add ons such as a popular one... the one that Phil Collins used to be in.

It could take quite a while to get to anything, will this run a lot smoother.

I'm running on my laptop at the moment which has an i5 and it's pretty fast with that.

Is the RP2 a lot faster?

We have the RP which is pretty slow but my gf doesn't mind it as we only use it in the bedroom.

I have the laptop in the main room so there is no slowdown on that at all.

I found that sometime the RP would just hand and then have to restart. I will get the RP2 but I think it's £50 and the Amazon Fire sometimes drops to around £60 so is it worth just jumping to the AF?

I'd still prefer to use the extortionate money required to buy an NUC into buying a miniATI board with a full speed i5 3570K and old RAM. That puppy will blow most gaming rigs out the water yet still be able to run underclocked, consuming low power while in a tiny box quite silently.

I just can't believe folks would waste so much cash on such a weak system just because it's called an NUC and fits in a slightly smaller package.

Assuming that most gaming rigs use less than the Intel HD4000 graphics that is ;)
