Best Zelda Game?

Wind waker for me was one of the all time dissapointments. They commpletely changed the "feel" of Zelda that OoT and MM had, all that sailing around just bored the hell out of me. Ive heard that they have tried to make TP more like the original 3D Zelda games so Im tempted to buy a Wii just for that game.

Out of the games Ive played it goes:
1. OoT
2. MM
3. LttP
4. WW

For me would have to be OoT, not played the new one though, hope to get it soon and from the way people are talking about it on here looking forward to it very much.

My head says Ocarina of Time (although this might be imminently replaced by Twilight Princess - only 1 more day to wait :D).

However, my heart says A Link to the Past. Quite possibly the game that really set the precedent of what Zelda 'should be', if you take my meaning. Of course OoT is superior, but back in 1992, this diminutive, 8-megabit title was nothing short of a revelation.

Did you ever play 'Links awakening' that came out a year later? It was superior in everyway, except not graphically of course, being on the gameboy. Everyone got stuck on the exact same bit on the second dungeon where you had to kill 3 baddies in a certain order. It was ludicrously cryptic, and I was lucky enough to play the dx version which was made a little easier by telling you if a key was hidden in a room!

If you had of asked me a few weeks ago, then WW would have been in my list, I loved the game, it had great dungeons etc (Although I CBA to collect all the tri-force parts so still havent finished it...) But having just got TP I am reminded what Zelda is truly about and WW While a good game was not true to Zelda realy, TP is brilliant fun, sad however that im almost at the end of it, I just poped on OOT Master Quest for a go, and already died about 5 times, in TP I have died about twice and im at the Sky Temple already, this having been said im playing the GC Version of OOT and im finding the controls a little clumsy to say the least!

So:

1) Ocarina Of Time
2) Twilight Princess
3) MM

Twilight Princess is great, I love the fact that we get more info on the places from OOT, Like we can see what happend to the Zora's and the Gorons and so forth, I enjoyed MM, however I still think it a little odd with it not being set in Hyrule (The same can be said about Wind Breaker however) What I did enjoy about this the most was all the silly little mini quests, I could waste many hours on them alone... Havent found to many in TP Yet :(

I most certainly did... Although I don't agree that was superior in every way (it seemed more light-weight and 'paper-back' as opposed to Link to the Past's 'hard-back', epic sort of feel), I do think it was the best GameBoy title ever released. Nay, quite possibly the best hand-held game ever released.

Having played every zelda avidly since the 3D days, i'd have to say the following:

1) Ocarina of time
2) Twilight Princess
3) Majoras Mask
4) Wind Waker

Although to be honest, once i'm immersed in one i think its the best game i've ever played. There really isn't much between all four.

I can't wait to play TP tomorrow!

If I were to list them I'd say

OoT
LttP
Link's Awakening
WW
MM

But even then I loved MM, I just thought it was a bit light in terms of dungeons/bosses.

I've never played a bad Zelda game :D

Minish Cap was pretty good, too.

1) Wind Waker - Best atmosphere, best style, love the world, I'll forgive a little padding. Wasn't bothered about Twilight princess for ages because I wanted a sequel to this (I got over that though:-).

2) Ocarina - It really is quite good. I couldn't play the N64 version now though, got to be the gamecube one with higher res - N64 one looks like it's being played through a film of chocolate.

3) The orginal gameboy one - I forget the name but it was fantastic in every way. I waited soooo long for it to come out & it lived up to my expectations.

Tomorrow (technically today, I suppose) I'll start playing twilight princess (Gamecube) - we'll see how that fits in.

I think the only two I've actually played are Link's Awakening and Minish Cap. Both are excellent. Oh, and I've played a bit of Ocarina of Time.

I've got Link To The Past for the GBA waiting to be played on my DS... looking forward to it.

1) Ocarina of Time - Best game I've ever played, the reason I actually bought my N64 and had hours of fun on this game. Sometimes used to get on the horse and just ride around Hyrule field for fun! Me and my mate bought it at the same time and had a competition to see who would finish it first, I was just ahead but the cheeky git took a day of school to finish it before me. Damn him! This game was just great though, the temples were great, the storyline was good and there was so much to do in the game.

2) Links Awakening - Actually played this game by accident, was borrowing my mates gameboy and he happened to have this game. I didn't give him his gameboy back until I completed it :D Great game.

3) Wind waker - In an age where too many companies put too much emphasis on graphics this game showed that gameplay is much more important. The graphics had a nice simple feel to them but the gameplay was just top notch and the game was massive as well.

I think the whole series is just fantastic, I just don't think any PC or any other console game will as enjoyable as the Zelda games are for me. It is just one of those games that once you get into them you think about it all the time and just wanna keep playing until you have finished it! One of the reasons I want Nintendo to keep going as well as even though in the past Sony and XBox may be selling more I don't think any of their games match up to Zelda.

You know they're doing one don't you? For the DS, it's supposed to be out some time soon.

Hard question really.
I felt that OoT was easyier to get into than MM, and easyier to understand, but MM, once your past the first temple and gotten out into the larger world, was a much more 'rich' world. Everything seems more 'fuller'. But it is more confusing at first with the time thing. Its not a 'dip in, dip out' game.

WW felt 'epic' the scale of the game and the fact that you could be sailing for ages, through storms, waves, sun, ect; gave a very good illusion of 'lonelyness'. Very metroid like in a way.

Upto now though, TP is very good. Its like the strong parts of all the 3D Zeldas, with almost none of the drawbacks of any of those three. Theres a sence of lonelyness at times due to the grand scale of the games, its easy to get into, and everywhere/thing seems to have a purpose.

I couldnt pick a winner out of the 3D games, and the 2D games, to be quite honest, are very good, but imo dont really compare to the 3D ones. But thats just me. I could never get into Zelda on the gameboy. :p

I am still playing Windwaker, waiting for my guide to arrive since i am stuck at the mo in the God's tower. but so far it's been brilliant.

The only Zelda game i've completed is A link to the Past, had Link's awakening on the Gameboy but never really got into it. I also have to finish Ocarina of Time (just started) as well which came with Windwaker, and then play TP (also have !) I guess i have the pleasure to play 3 of the best Zelda titles at once, can you get OD on Zelda ? :D

I love the Zelda series, my faves are:

1. - Ocarina of Time
2. - Link To The Past
3. - Wind Waker

I've not played TP yet, gonna grab a Wii in a couple of weeks.
WW is the only game I have for the GC, and TP will probably be the only game I buy for the Wii... still worth it though. :)

Holy thread revival, but has anyone ever played on Wind Waker with the link to the GBA from the Gamecube? If so - What do you think of it?

I have only ever completed Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, that is the DS one. Was pretty good though for a handheld. Shame I never played the other games and I haven't got Wii to try any other modern one.

Two year old quote but I agree with that totally.

Wind Waker was immense, far better than Ocarina and the only Zelda game I've completed aside from Minish Cap.
