Bestest radar detector ever please!

lol.. I spend too much time watching kids TV..

oh by the way, I see you're in Southampton.. my October set of 3 were delivered just under the bridge of junction 13 on the M3 going towards Eastleigh.

Thats the set I reckon are a fair cop.

the worst thing is I was tanking down this road and I thought to myself "this is the sort of place you'd see a camera van".. looked up and saw...

A bloody camera van.

Its so hard to maintain concentration when you almost live on the road (I'm not a trucky by the way, I just manage a UK account) and that goes for speed limits, the concentration required to stay at any speed for 50k+ miles per year is pretty heavy. Especially when that is a change of behaviour.

It takes time and I'm learning it slowly and I do over 50k per year. My licence has been revoked once and im on 7 points at the moment. Far from being any saint but I know what you feel like :(

revoked for cumulative points?

what length of ban is it for that? Just got to think contingency!

6 points within 2 years after test passed after 1997(IIRC) means a revoke of licence.

No Ban just pass complete test again and I did within 1 month :)

how have you got 7 points?

sorry, don't mean to pry but were you really taking the **** for the 4 pointer?

would have only been 3 points as I was offered FPN but had to goto court due to the 6 point rule.

99mph in 70mph zone :)

lol.. puts me in mind of my first lot 10 years ago, 69.5 in a 40 and accelerating. How I skipped a ban then I've no idea.

The BEL550 is your best choise or the V1...
I asked from a friend to bring me a radar detector from the UK and he got me the latest Cobra 9700 which doesnt detect the Ku band....ouch...what a waste of money...

For europe the two radar detectors i mentioned are the best choises. My cobra detects Ka alerts but nearly all of them are not police radars...

Keep in mind that the radar detector will not get you out of trouble if youre being targeted by a laser ie ultralyte by the police...It will just confirm that you got the ticket...

So in order to be safe you have to get a radar detector...a radar jammer...so that it will give you a few secs to slow down provided that you radar detector detects the police radar aiming at you...you will need VEIL to apply on your headlamps and number plate...

You need loadsa £££ to cut the story short..including protection from Gatsos etc...

Radar detectors are actually almost a waste of time on the whole. Half the speed cameras now are either laser or digital. If laser then as said above, generally if you pick it up you've been zapped already and with radar detection, the devices go off everytime you go past an automatic door.

exactly , I have just a Origin B2 in the car now , don't even have the laser detector fitted

I think I'm just going to give this gps thing a crack and maybe slow down.. I might live longer. And even if I don't it'll feel like it because I'll feel like I'm walking everywhere!

Just get a TomTom and download the data of Pocketgps. This shows you where all the scamera vans operate and give you a warning. Just keep it updated. It's probably not 100% perfect but it knows where all the "usual" places are around my area. :)

That's what i use to, my tomtom700 is set for different alarms for fixed cameras another for scameravans and another for favorate police speedtrap areas :). just make sure you set it to warn not just on the road your travelling along - it picks up where police cars set up traps on bridges over motorways and where they park on dual carrigeway sliproads. ace bit of kit.

Guys you got it wrong here.

A radar detector IS NOT A WASTE OF TIME...a radar detector will detect radars in the Ka band for example from miles away and it will give you the time to slow down...but not all radars work at the same frequency range...nore with the same method...sorry difficult to explain in english...

Laser ie will give the policeman at an instant your speed....they dont transmitt when they do not operate and your radar detector will only detect their signal if pointed at you.Dark colored cars or motorcycles are more difficult to detect. They aim at your headlights and your number plate...if you use Veil it may be impossible for them to detect your speed...radar jammer will work well with that for extra protection.

In order to avoid LASER detection you need a RADAR JAMMER and VEIL...

If you dont wanna spend money on these two then its not the radar detectors fault :D....
