Better for OC'ing?

Not used either personally, but i've heared the Gigabyte is the better of the two, sure someone will be along shortly to correct me if I'm wrong!

Both good boards. I believe the ASUS can manage a slightly higher Bclk (Bus clock), but the gigabyte can hold a very slightly higher CPU clock. Overclockers use the Gigabyte for it's 3.8, 4.0 and 4.2 GHz i7 920 overclocking bundles.

If you want 2 way SLI, I'd perhaps suggest the Asus, as the primary 16 way PCIe2 slots on the gigabyte mean that 2 dual slot GPUs will be right next to each other, which restricts the airflow to the primary GPU. The Asus has an extra PCI slot between them. Having said that, it's not been too much a problem for my GTX275s on my UD5, but I have a HAF 922 case, and an additional side fan.

Have recently upgraded to I7 and went with the Asus.. Whilst doing some homework it appears that the 2 boards are pretty much the same all bar a few cosmetic differences and what Hazard0's said but having had an Asus P5Q-e with a Q9550 which was a doddle to clock with, I stayed with Asus altho was a little bit more expensive... When I placed the order with Overclockers, the guy I spoke to recommended the PT6 v2 over the Rampage 2 Extreme and the UD5 as a solid clocking board.. I've got mine running at 3.6 (3.78 with turbo on) straight out of the box with no effort and is LinX and Prime95 stable, temps in LinX max out at 67C. Looking forward to trying to hit the 4Ghz mark.. Have only ever used a P43 Gigabyte board and personally I much prefered the Asus bios :)

Gigabyte you can rma to milton keynes. Asus you have to send to somewhere near Japan (I'm not a geographer). No contest, I've been trying to rma an asus board for nearly 2 months now.
