Between Witcher 2 and Deus Ex...

Once I'm finished with Deus Ex: HR, I'm trying the Witcher 2 as it sounds great.

Do I need to play the first game to understand the story for Witcher 2?

I would get The Witcher 2 cheap, then get Deus Ex when it comes down in price (won't be long).

Not really. I did have the first game but got bored of it a few hours in.

Played the second and loved it and wasnt really bothered about not knowing the story to the first.

people mentioning fallout, pick them up when on sale on steam, get 3 and new vegas, will keep you going for ages

You'll be lucky to get anything like decent framerates in Deus Ex with that processor, it's almost entirely unoptimised. Good game but likely off-limits.

If that's directed at the OP I am afraid you are mistaken.

As I already stated earlier in the thread my spec is identical to the OP and I can run Deus Ex:HR just fine with no stuttering and a perfectly smooth frame rate.
