Why is it even possible for scam like this to exist, it's surely easily noticeable it's a scam, someone's names are registered, companies are involved etc, should they not be raided, arrested and equipment confiscated?

dmpoole, I was thinking of making a "Scams in your inbox" thread for just that sort of thing. I got this one yesterday (I like the way the guy can't spell his own name in his own email address):

I've no idea if there even is a limit. I've seen plenty of adverts that charge £1.50/min and have a "minimum charge amount: 20 minutes" in the small print, or other arbitrary time.

It's good that she refused. If the d-list is blocked for reply to all mails then she'd only be creating more workload for the servers and more bandwidth to be used by recalling it.
You would have been in the wrong by replying to all.
I learned this the hard way a long time ago.
My wife ( NHS nurse ) got this email this week through work. I informed her last night that it was rubbish and it was not possible to "scam" anyone out of that kind of money through a phone call and that the same email had been doing the rounds for years.
