Beyerdynamic T90

Sound like crap. Some of the most out of place treble and grainy headphones I've heard from Beyer, even if they are £150 I'd still say don't.

Nad Viso HP50 £175 - Good balance from bass to treble, really nice tonality, good bass extension and excellent treble articulation.

Focal Spirit Classic £250 - My fav sounding closed headphone. Amazing tone, like dark chocolate, thick, smooth, good impact - the fit on these is a hit and miss, they bothered my piercings a lot.

Oppo PM3 £359 - Very nice headphone, good detail and resolution, build well, not my cup of tea for sound signature but I appreciate what it can do, not really a warm headphone but pretty even sounding.

Why no review ?

Of the T90? I don't see the point in reviewing them, they have the same problems as their whole line up, metallic, dry, inaccurate. I hate headphones that boost the treble and upper mids and have a lack of low bass for the sake of trying to be detailed; it just sounds so unnatural. I prefer the DT770 as I find it a bit more accurate in terms of balance but it doesn't quite have the resolution of the T90.

Can't say I've read any T-90 reviews in particular but then again I'm also fairly sure I've never heard Beyers described as 'inaccurate'.

At the end of the day, everyone has an opinion, but to sum up for me easyrider.

I find the sound smooth, light and clean, and very open and uncolored, I would however say that I find bass on them lacking.

In terms of comfort I find them excellent, and can happily wear them for hours, they are an open backed design however so sound does leak.

The ear cups are a nice velour.

Another negative is the captive cable, would definetley of wanted a replaceable one at the price I paid

Lacking bass is colouration. I think people confuse an overly clean sound as accuracy because it's clearer. When it's actually the upper ranges which are enhanced with lack of low bass.

The T90 is clean because that's how it was made but it's not natural because it is enhanced and lacking at the same time. An accurate headphone will sound very bassy if the recording is very bassy. The HD800 is an example because it enhances the recording for the sake of detail retrieval which isn't natural.
If you run a spectrum analysis on the T90, it won't show you the correct bass or treble regions so what you hear will not reflect what is shown.

There's nothing wrong with this as many audiophiles like the treble and mid tuning, it shouldn't be mistaken for accurate though.

How do the Focal Spirit Classic headphone sound in comparison to the HD650? Would I be able to switch between them without a dramatic change in sound? Looking for a closed headphone myself that has a similar sound the 650.

The classics sound more closed in because they are a thick sounding phone in a closed cup. It's not as resolving as the 650 but if you enjoy that mellow sound the classics are a good choice. 650 sounds more spacious, airy with a more natural sound. It's basically all the advantages of an open headphone coming into place. The closest I've heard to a closed 650 is probably the first batches of Mad Dogs.
