BF 2142 performance question

The thing with both BF2 and BF2142 is that the more ram you have, the less stuttering you get. I can run everything maxed out at 1152x864 and it's smooth. But a while back, i had 1.5Gb of ram and i could up the res to 1280x1024. Perhaps he should get a new card. An X1950 Pro, or even a 7600GT, and he's good to go. And 65FPS, that's awesome! Although 15-25 isn't.

Perhaps he should check out what processes and sevices are running in the background and disable any he doesn't need.

however even with a fps of 15 the game can still be played, thats what i usally get when defending/attacking the titan and an average of 20-30fps on conquest maps i can still get score like this

look at his system, given he has 2 mismatched sets of ram frequency's running and didnt know about it i very much doubt he will know how to fully optimise XP. no offence intended to him of course, msconfig and services.msc are not every day knowledge for most.

Even so, to me the limiting factor in a 3500+/1.5gig/7300gt system is clearly the gpu.

On Low textures I'd be amazed if the game+OS used more than 1.5gig RAM. He's getting 65fps due to an underpowered graphics card IMO, not due to paging.

But of course it should be pretty easy to judge - just get him to check peak commit charge in task manager after playing.

he isnt getting 65fps, you haven't read the whole thread, go back and read it again, and if he was getting 65fps that would be more than acceptable :/
