Hi all

i've had BF2 since xmas but due to a COD2 addiction havent even installed it yet.

any advise for getting into the game? should i just charge straight into the online game and see how long it takes to get used to it? or should i play the offline part first?

also im told i need to download a mamoth patch so thta i can play where is the best place for em to pick it up from?

thanks

Jump in with both feet. That way you can learn how to play from watching other people. You can't learn from watching the AI bots because they suck.

As for patches, you could get EA downloader, and use that (and get Armored forces add-on at the same time), or just use somewhere like 3dgamers.com or the official site.

Yeah jump right in, you will probably die lots and lots and lots to begin with, but its all fun right :) Try and join a squad and just tag along with them.

jump straight in its the only way :), i get patches from gamershell.com pretty good and quick. id be happy to help you i play a fair bit at weekends if you use xfire add me r1chardba1ley

Quit while you're ahead and don't bother playing, you'll only get frustrated as hell with these dodgy patches and its also buggy. Nah im kiddin, do as they say^^^ and jump right in, remember to shoot in bursts and dont spray. Use the ironsights as well. Oh and soon as you see someone, prone and shoot. Everyone does it. lol.

follow up question.

i know there are supposed to be some add ons for the game, not sure if they are ones u have to pay for or not?

if i havent got any add ons (which i wont have) will i be at a big disadvantage to everyone else?

In Short, No. Special Forces allows you extra unlock weapons which you can use in Normal Bf2, but the unlocks arent better than the originals, just different. (i tend to prefer the standard weapons or Bf2 unlocks over the Special Forces ones) Some do more damage than the standard weapon, but are less accurate for example.

Free add ons? Dude, this is EA, nothings Free.

lol good point was a bit of a stupid question really!

i presume as its been out a while that my pc should be able to run it ok?

Should run sweet, i had a similar rig except i had a 6800 GT...just upgraded to an X1900XT.

The 2 gig of RAM will come in very handy!

thanks if you see some noob called loki running about and gettin pwned left right and centre over the next couple of days its probably me!!

roll up roll up cheap kills get your cheap kills here!

The SF sniper rifle is amazing got me into sniping and can easily pick off targets

I'm going to disagree, and say have a go on single player against bots first. Use it to learn where the flags are, and how to drive/fly etc. Not too long, just to give you a bit of an idea. Bots are much easier to follow.

Trust me, it'll save you a lot of flaming on the servers by n00bs with no patience.

the names are linked to accounts

might have to go for lokiguesty then like i did on here? what do u do if u join a clan or somthing then? do u have to restart so that you can get tags or can u change your name in someway?

will probably make more sense when i install it and have alook around

Thats what im saying, the SF sniper rifle (L96) is EXACTLY, ie it does the same damage and has the same accuracy as the M24 (the default USMC rifle) Whereas the M95 does more damage than both, yet is less accurate. So it all balances out, no one unlock is better than the other, just different.

There is a prefix option on the login screen so you can add tags before your account name.
