BF2 server OCUK now up

WTF lol I was about to go and get this patch so I could play but it's 1.93 GB! wtf since when is a patch 1.93 GB?! my poor excuse for broadband cries if it ends in GB instead of MB :( Not bothered any more

It is so big as they released all the old add-ons, EF & AF for free.

Well worth dl'ing it.

might re install and join some time. Got hacked and then reset by EA and then stopped playing, horrible customer support. I suck with anything other than an L96.

Can someone whose patched up to v1.50 check something for me. If you go into single player, is there a semi-transparent box just above where your ammo count etc is, saying 'beta-2'? I still can't get it to work and it is infuriating!!

No, there is no writing or transparent box at all. What exactly is the problem?

EDIT, just seen your posts. What OS are you running because your pics shows xp and vista. Have you tried uninstalling and removing the reg entries? Where did you get the patch from? I usually get all my patches from gamersHell

I'm running xp pro. The picture with vista is one I quickly got off google.

I followed these instructions for removing the reg entries..

EA wrote:
I apologize for the difficulties that you are having with Battlefield 2. This error occurs if there is a file corruption with one of the game files which is usually casued by an improper patching of the game. You will need to uninstall and reinstall Battlefield 2 as well as all of the expansion and booster packs that you have.

You can manually uninstall the game by removing the files and registry keys associated with it. Be sure to follow these steps exactly as they appear to prevent accidental file/program deletion on your system.

To delete the save files:

1. Open My Documents.
2. Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.

(I RECOMMEND BACKING THIS UP IF YOU HAVE SCREENSHOTS, LOCALISATION, DEMOS, PROFILES ETC THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP)

To delete the game files (in the default location):

1. Open My Computer.
2. Open the C drive.
3. Open the Program Files folder.
4. Open the EA GAMES folder.
5. Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.
6. Close all open windows.
7. Right-click on the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.

To edit the registry and remove Battlefield 2:

1. Click on the Start button.
2. Click on Run.
3. Type regedit in the text field.
4. Click File and then choose Export.
5. Name the file Backup and make sure the Export Range is set to All.
6. Click Save; you will now be returned to the Registry Editor window.
7. Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
8. Click the plus sign next to Software.
9. Click the plus sign next to DICE.
10. Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.
11. Right-click on the Battlefield 2: Special Forces folder and choose Delete.
11. Right-click on the Battlefield 2: Armoured Fury folder (if applicable) and choose Delete.
12. Click the plus sign next to Electronic Arts and again on the EA Games and EA Core folder.
13. Right-click and choose Delete on any Battlefield 2 folders.
14. Click the plus sign next to Microsoft.
15. Click the plus sign next to Windows.
16. Click the plus sign next to CurrentVersion.
17. Click the plus sign next to Uninstall.
18. Right-click on the key named {04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B} and choose Delete.
19. A Confirm Key Delete window will appear, choose Yes.
20. Repeat steps 18 & 19 for the key named {50D4CB89-AF34-4978-96DC-C3034062E901}
21. Close the WindowsRegistry Editor.
22. Go to the following folder: C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (If you cannot find this folder you may have to go to Tools > Folder Settings and click the setting to “SHOW hidden folders.”)
23. Find the folders with the exact same values as the registry keys above and delete them.
24. Empty the recycle bin once more.

After uninstalling Battlefield 2. Please reinstall it as well as the expansions and add-ons in the following order:

1. First installed Battlefield 2.
2. Next install Battlefield 2: Special Forces.(if applicable)
3. Install the latest full 1.41 patch after installing Special Forces.
4. Next install Battlefield 2: Euro Force.(if applicable)
5. Next install Battlefield 2: Armored Fury.(if applicable)
6. Install the latest 1.41 full patch.

However I couldn't do number 20 because that key wasn't there? Both of the patches were downloaded off gamershell aswell. I don't know what to do, I've uninstalled it about 6 times now and its really bugging me! Its a fresh install of xp aswell because I've just upgraded my system.

The fact I've got 2142 installed wouldn't be a problem would it? Getting an ea downloader error message with that aswell!

Thats a hard one mate, if you cant install it, ring the help number on the back, failing that do a complete uninstall and patch it 1 by 1?

Mikey P Hi all, are we aiming for a 8pm game tonight?

Well i've got 2412 installed and both my 2142 and BF2 works fine. Have you installed any expansion packs or just done a clean installation of BF2 then the 1.5patch?

Personally i would do a clean install then the 1.5 patch, instead of installing the expansions and incremental patches.

...But I already have all the add-ons from the 'complete collection' CD I bought, but my version is still 1.41, presumably meaning I have to download AGAIN what I already have installed?

Hmm. I've been doing a clean install, then v1.41, and then v1.5. Am I meant to just use the 1.5 patch? Would explain my problem?

I spoke to Lyon, there might be a chance of a game tonight, so people join around 8pm and we'll see if theres enough of us.

I re-installed BF2 on my Windows 7 computer and I'm having a punkbuster error when trying to join any games, I get kicked out with an error reason : Service Communication Error Punkbuster.exe or something like that, anyone know how to fix this? I updated punkbuster using the app on punkbuster website but it does not work.

I now have a decent connection but the patch will not install it keeps saying that i have a newer version already installed but i know i haven't because i have only just installed it from disc
