BF2 settings for 7800GTX??

Ok, I'm not attempting to read through the 226 page BF2 thread so I'l make a new one lol

What settings do u run with 7800GTX?

If I set all to high then I get choppy frames

4xAA and 1280x1024

runs fine with all settings on medium 1280x1024 4xAA though

2gb Ram will help a lot. Also might have something to do with your dual core cpu. Im not sure though, someone else will know...

I think you need more RAM.

I can play BF2 at 1600x1200, 4x AA all set to high and it's perfect. That's using a 7800GT.

If your using high textures you need 2gig otherwise it will be choppy

As has been said above, get 2GB RAM and you'll be able to play maximum details at silky smooth framerates :cool:

I had an Opteron 146, 2gb Ram and a 7800 GTX 256mb and ran all on High (except lighting and sahows on medium) in 1280x960 and i think it was 2x or 4x AA, ran fine. Have since upgraded though

Do you guys play with these really high settings, and get smooth frame rates online too?

Or do they need to be lowered abit to get good enough performance?

Just had some muppet flying a heli full of people crash into me while I was in a boat, I recieved 6 Teamkills somehow and they all chose not to forgive... :mad:

Dunno if its just me but the community I've met so far are very abusive and like to pin you down in spawns a lot :confused:

As a new player to this thats quite disappointing

dynamic shadows, textures and lighting are the FPS killers in your setup, you should try tweaking these and crank up the remaining options.

I also find that I get better IQ and performance by disabling AA and setting the texture filtering to Low in the BF2 menu

Then I use the nvidia control panel to set 4xAA and 8xtexture filtering (just make sure the "application controlled" checkbox is not selected.

Just get an extra gig, you'll be fine.

I run those exact settings on my setup and apart from about 4 seconds of stuttering at the start of the map, its silky smooth.

Once you do get that extra gig, can you let me know what your framerates are like? Im moving to an x2 3800 asap and would like to know the performance difference between that and my poor lil P4.

I'm going to presume not.... but does texture setting affect frames per second at all?? Or if your fps are fairly constant is it safe to go to high detail?

I run Everything on its absolute maximum at 1280*1024 and don't get the slightest frame drop even in v.large firefights..

2gb of ram should sort you out. Even if its only running at DDR333 in single channel mode (like mine is)

I run: BFG 7800GTX, 2gb ram, Athlon 64 3200+ (socket 754) oc/ed to 3400 speeds

haha, lol sorry but everyone has had that. funny as hell aint it.

Avoid EAUK servers if you can and play on a decent clan server. a lot of people here play on 50k (http://50klicks.com/) as the admins are generally allright people and idiots get kicked on request plus there is no tk punish there

Yup runs fine with those settings

Yer had a few games on the 50clicks server yesterday, keep having my ass whooped though

Guess I need to unlock some more weaps before I can get more kills, newer sniper and assault rifle seem to have helped a bit.

The effectiveness of the weapons are a lot different to every other FPS game I've played, sometimes 3 clips wont even scratch someone :confused:

erm, actually it doesn't lol

for example:

Guy sat in turret of a vehicle, I had a completly clear shot on him with sniper yet 5 shots didn't hit him and he wasn't even moving! :confused:
