I want them all at mediums & the cache files cleared Prior to defrag.
In my Own opinion i believe that BF2 runs better on mediums than lows even on lower end systems. I have played since day one on 3 different systems starting out with a 3200XP socket A 1gig set up. In my Own experience BF2 runs better on mediums than on lows as while on lows it feels like it is converting it down or something, either way BF2 likes mediums whether budget system or not. Not that your system is budget but 1gig to me is budget these days.

well it is pretty budget really. Only cost £550, but i have future upgrades planned. OK i will put on mediums, btw should i be able to see member's market now.

Thanks for your help so far :)

well i have done that defrag etc now and it took 5minutes 18secs to load. This is no different really. Please help?

How many processes are you currently running ? I have to ask aswell, Do you keep MSN running or any crap like that ?

Someone is on the case concerning your M&M access, as you have met both criteria it should be sorted shortly. Apparently it gets activated automatically but in your case hasn't, Bugz i s'pose but don't worry it will get done.

I had this problem when i had Bitdefender AV running

Took 2142 about 5 mins to load,

had to remove it completely and it works fine now, disabling it just didnt help.

Maybe a chance your AV is slowing it down ?

Nod32 works fine

No it don't help AT ALL :p When you only have 1gig of ram. You need to google all your processes and turn of as many as you can, i would aim for 30 to start but 25 would be better or less.

Also what are your temps as Gaverick in the other thread reminded me that we haven't established whether your system is running within decent temps. If it is overheating underload it will effect all GFX intence games/applications.

oh no it is not overheating i get about 35C on my CPU most of the time, same for motherboard.

Although i do actually run bitdefender security suite because it came bundled with my pc hardware (i didnt ask for it, didnt even see an offer for it). Could this really be affecting it then?

I thought bitdefender was pretty good.

I also find that the delay between confirming my password and getting to the server list has increased significantly, and is now about two minutes.
Load times and in game speed is fine, just this annoying delay.

Well i bought a 2 year license and swore by it until i found out it was causing BF2142 to load like a donkey,

Only way i realised is that i have it on 2 machines and they were both going slow so autamaticaly found the culprit

Wow thanks coolasmoo!

I uninstalled bitdefender put avast and za on and now i get 1minute 25secs! GREAT! :D

Thanks to everyone who helped,

Stopsign.

I found the difference between 1GB memory in my sig and my 2GB G.Skill pretty huge. BF2 is a total RAM hog

Agreed. :(

Here's the settings to use, it gives you an advantage in multiplayer games too. :D I did change the resolution to 1280x1024 and AA to 2x though:
