Probably a stupid question but can you only use one PC for BF2?
I've just got a nice new vaio and its saying my cd key is invalid when I try connect.

If you're trying to connect to a server with both pcs at the same it wont work, but if you only want to use one at a time it should be fine.

If you're getting that problem trying to connect with only the one pc online, then it's probably another EA cockup.

yeah its only one at once. In work at the minute so unless someone has broken in home and is playing on my pc..
Bit strange really.

Maybe you have entered the wrong CD Key accidentally?

i did think that, but thought it would have given an error during install. But i'll double check the cdkey when i get home.

Is there anyway to pull the corrent key off your install?

Since one of the early patches, the key is encrypted in the registry and the entry (if exported from the registry) won't work on another PC.

You can, however, re-enter the cd key without having to re-install the game:

- Run regedit

- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc

- Enter your cd key from the back of your manual WITHOUT any spaces or hyphens, eg "123455780123456780"

- Exit regedit

- Run BF2CdKeyCheck.exe, download from here: http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~chrismox/BF2CdKeyCheck.exe

- Your cd key will now be re-encrypted

tried it again just in case i'd done it wrong the last two time, and it let me connect. Great i thought, although I was sure it was done correctly before.

However it was only to 2 servers and I've tried about 20 now, most are still saying cdkey invalid?

Anyone got an idea whats going on?

You could try calling EA support - I called them a few years ago when I lost my BF1942 key and they gave me a new one over the phone.

The key is fine however since it doesn't do this on my main pc?
