Hi, just a quick q, as far as i know, battleifled 2142 is just like an update to battlefield 2 except set in the future and with titan mode. I was just wondering which one is better and if battlefiled 2142 is anymore requiring to run than battlefield 2. I don't have the best of computers you see.

Titan mode is fun (as its something new), and bf2142 has better menus and stats viewable in bfhq (there are loads of bf2 stats websites though that are good).
Also joining games your mates are playing is easier.
However despite this, I play bf2 loads more, probably cos I am quite good (compared to me on bf2142).
Bf2142 has slightly better graphics (I think), but bf2 isnt very good to play with less than 2gb ram I have found, and I have been playing it from release over a range of pc builds. Both games ran fine @1920x1200 on my x1800xt which today is rather pants.

A lot of people came flooding back to BF2 after the disappointment that is BF2142. Especially after the somewhat dishonest way they snuck targeted advertising into it - really annoyed a lot of people.
GFX wise it is more demanding than BF2, but as always you can always just reduce the settings. I personally don't see the point, and am awaiting BF3 with baited breath!

They're both good games really, just different.
I play 2142 these days, but I'm tempted to give BF2 a blast again.
Titan mode in 2142 is cool; the indoor fighting makes for fun games. They've also done a lot to address the balance of the various vehicles in game. Aircraft are no longer so overpowered

that is a big problem on bf2, hence why I go on infantry only maps (also due to n00bs camping in apcs), but bf2 has many exploits. I go on FF off maps so fools dont stand on my mines but then they use bombs to blow themselves up onto buildings they should not be on top of.Aircraft are no longer so overpowered

2142 seemed really generic and bland.
To be honest, I just hate the fururistic sci-fi aspect of it.
Titan mode was pretty boring too. Too much wandering around trying to find a vehicle and whatnot

Yeah FF off is has its drawbacks – most notably people who just lob C5/RDX at you and detonate before you can even get a shot off. Pretty much the only way of dealing with one of these guys at close range in 2142 is to shoot them with the Clark point blank and hit them first time, otherwise they just kill you
Yeah you kind of have a point there – it's not as interesting as BF2.
I also hate the way they think they have to give EVERY piece of equipment an alphanumeric designation just because it's the future so they can make stuff up.

I reinstalled BF2 recently and it just hung on trying to login with my old username (had a number of unlocks etc) ...
I guess it might have been a temporary problem then - as the account still exists on BF2S

2142 is terrible compared to BF2, although at least it was better than the BF2 addons. The only good thing is the buggies with their boost, I could drive around running people down for hours.
What should they call them silly thing like Eviscerator or Blaster Cannon like in other games? Real weapons are named that way.....

i really liked 2142. although when i installed it, i must admit, i was rather dissapointed there was no laser guns. but still the unlocks were far easier than bf2 and its pretty balanced. tbh i enjoyed it more than bf2, but still havnt played it in the last 10 months or so

Well yeah, some of them aren't too bad, but things like the combat knife... does a combat knife really need a designation? Or a cloaking unit? And they could've been more imaginative than just taking three letters from 'frag' and using them for the grenade's designation
You don't see it in any other BF game; they only reason they do it in BF2142 is because it's the future so they can make stuff up.
both games are great, after that its a matter of opinion... BF2 was probably the best before they patched out the fun and for me is ruined by dolphin diving and bunny hopping ... 2142 was the more balanced game with some fantastic unlocks that actually made wannabe hackers somewhat useless.
i always tell people to buy them both, but after patch 1.2 in BF2 (iirc) i found 2142 the far better game as it took better teamwork and skill than the jump-prone-nadespam tactics in bf2...

I never actually owned a full copy of 2142 but did play the demo for a time and it was enjoyable, but I didn't see myself playing it enough to warrant buying it - seeing as I already had BF2 / SF/ AF ...

I've started playing BF2 again. Actually enjoying it.
What I hated though was playing Highway Tampa and finding it full of Intel Core2Duo adverts.
What is THAT about? Ingame advertising works when its relevent. I like Intel adverts beside football pitches and beside racing tracks. I do not like Intel adverts in wartorn middle eastern settlements.

bf2 was great before the patchs i reinstalled bf2 unpatched and every gun hut there targets patched to 1.41 and killing people has gotten a lot harder due to bullets totaly missing. at least 2142 when you shot 1 som1 the bullets hut and didn't go somwhere else even after all the patchs.
