BF2 Wont run

I can't even get into the game let alone the settings.

I've completely removed it and reinstalled it - I've now got a 100% new install of the default game, no patch. STILL refuses to run - I know its not currently patched but that shouldn't stop the game running at all. Applying latest patch makes no difference.

Going to try video drivers but I've had the game working before with this windows install/driver version?
 
First, make sure your My Documents directory is set correctly. If not point it to the correct place (right click on My Documents icon -> properties) and try BF2 again.

If problem still persists, temporarily rename your "Battlefield 2" directory under My Documents and try again. If BF2 now loads, your BF2 user profile is screwing it somehow. You'll either need to either recreate your profile from scatch (which involves reconfiguring all your options, don't worry, your online ranked stats are still there!) or work out which part of the current profile is screwing with it by selectively taking out files from your profile directory (try the .con files first).
