bf2142 problem

playing bf2142 the other day and suddenly my game locks up totally. (sound is locked as well) ctrl+alt+del didnt work so i had to switch the laptop off and on again.

So i start bf2142 again and all my settings have been erased. e.g. saved log in, graphics and other options. So i redo them all and join a server.
first attempt it doesnt even get into the game i manage to get to the screen which shows the map (usually if everything works normally there is a little wait then i am in) but no further.
Quit and restart and try again. This time i get into a game fine and manage to play for a few minutes before the same hard lockup happens again.

This all only started yesterday. Im thinking firstly it could be my graphics card drivers (xtreme g 92.91 laptop drivers). When im playing bf2142 normally i get a little graphics flicker corruption just before i join the game (ie after the map loads completely) but everything is fine in the game.

Anyone else getting this though? other games are fine. thanks.

hrmm nm seems to be fixed. was playing today no problems except now my broadband connection is playing up. Keeps losing the wifi network address. (wifi has been fine for months for online games)

anyways another problem for another forum


edit: spoke too soon happened again and accompanied with BSOD . a nvidia.dll error msg though so possibly overheating. will run NHC temp log in background.

dont think its temp prob coz i always have high temps e.g. can reach as high as 88 dec cel but last time it crashed itwas only 72 deg cel

installed previous driver 84.65 dell drivers. problem still there. When bf2142 crashed i did get an error msg about DLACTRLW.EXE

computer seems more sluggish as well. suspect virus

well avg didnt detect any threats. Played bf2142 for about 1 1/2 hrs yesterday no problems but then screen locked up. I waited a bit and it eventually chucked me back to the server menus with a "connection lost" message. Temp becomes a contender again..

update: think it was the dodgy sky wifi connection. Might change to ethernet if it keeps playing up.

edit: belay that last conclusion the BSOD continue. its nv4_disp.dll errors when i play bf2142. Im now thinking it might be smt to do with the pro intel wireless drivers. I only started getting these errors when msgs saying i had limited internet connectivity (yet when connected it reports signal strength as excellent etc) initially appeared when i sign in to my WIFI connection.

anyway getting advice n support from Dell forums... seems this is a known issue.
