BF2142 Punkbuster problem... a possible solution!

I, like many people, have recently been plagued by the fact that due to punkbuster being rather rubbish, i have been unable to play BF2142. But instead get kicked as soon as I try to log onto any server.

I looked around the net and searched forums for a solution but didnt find anything that worked... until now.

What I eventually had to do (just in case anyone is having the same problem) was uninstall BF2142, go to c:\program files\Electronic Arts and delete the Battlefield 2142 file. Then reinstall the game, apply patch and manually update the punkbuster files as described on www.evenbalance.com

I dont know if this is a permanent or temporary fix but it seems to be working for now.

Don't you just hate it when a game is released and doesnt play properly from the outset - I dont mind a game having some small bugs at realease and then a patch coming out later to fix them but when it renders the game unplayable it makes me feel like cussing!!! (i wont cuzz though or i may get an OCuK ban )

I have found there are different ways to sort this out, the one you used didn't work for me as it hasn't for other people. I found another solution today on EA's website/forum from some guy who from the sound of it works for EA. This one included using a tool which searches for the ad-aware in bf2142 and deletes a couple of files. These files are why punkbuster iss kicking people. For other people disabling voip is working at stopping the error. As for myself I formatted earlier and gave my computer a fresh install of everything, I haven't updated punkbuster and it seems ok for now apart from servers I have visited go red in server history and when I try to join them it says error has occurred on server but if I type in the servers ip address directly it connects just fine. I don't think there will be a single fix that works for everyone until they bring another patch out, hopefully anyway.

I also posted on EA's forum stating how unhappy I was with all these bugs and so forth when the game has only just been released and they deleted my comment like it never existed without contacting me or nothing, what kind of behaviour is that?
