BF3 Beta FPS thread

I couldnt tell you my FPS soon as I get in the game my pc crashes grrrrrrrrrr.

is HBAO really worth having on? as on bc2 it gives you -10% to -15% performance with very very little difference in graphics... maybe having that off on bf3 can gain you a significant amount of fps?

Ultra with 4xMSAA and 16x filter + HBAO @ 1080

Continuous 60fps with v-sync and tipple buffer forced in control panel.

I don't think we have access to all the options, set on Medium, High or Ultra I got the exact same FPS. Low was a little higher.

Done a quick comparison to show what I mean (click for big):



The shadows and lighting change but the textures look near identical.

I think you're right - the BC2 beta was the same, it only used medium textures but allowed you to crank up everything else to very high - including textures, but only the medium texture files were in the download, so there was no difference switching between the levels.

Makes sense that this is the case for BF3 beta as well, to keep the download size reasonable.

Running on Max settings with SLI 570's wasn't too bad but then I just realized I hadn't re-enabled SLI as I had to update my drivers, Wonder what it'll be like now!

It was obvious that a big rig was needed - there is 1 game very year that gets you spending!! Might be 2 this year with Skyrim

Plus looking at the vids I am not surpised!
I thought 580 sli might have hard time and its lookign that way. (nearly posted it yesterday on a diff thread on here) 580 sli 60fps average is demanding - crysis 1 maxed 16xqaa demanding

Although newer gpu drivers tend to yield big performance boosts - I really dont think the latest 280.26 or whatever are much cop!!

I see a few of you are using the 11.10 previews. How stable do they seem to be? Any noticeable improvement? I am using 11.7s on a 4870x2.

Its a demanding game, those running on some of the specs in here i cant understand. Im on 2 6970's with 2600k at 4.8 and although im running 2560x1600 its pretty hard to run on high, i have to kill most stuff down. Its goign to be 7 series for me for my resolution i think.

GPU: HD 6950 with unlocked shaders running at 950/1400
CPU: i5-2500K
Resolution: 1920x1080
Average FPS: 60-80 (depending on whether inside or outside)
Driver: 11.10

Set to default Ultra quality. (Windowed mode, Vsync off)

I have the exact same setup and resolution (6950 is unlocked, but clocked at 900/1375 though) 2500k is overclocked to 4.6GHz, but I only get around 30-40fps on Ultra with Vsync off.

Mine defaulted to High, which was weird since yours defaults to Ultra.
