BF3 Beta FPS thread

What settings do you use? Crossfire 6970s? What FPS do you get?

In caspian it can be around the 45-50 fps mark with most things on medium, really depends where about on the map i am and how loaded the gpu's are. It does drop occasionally to around 25ish when the gpu load drops some. Thats at 4800x900.

Full game should be much more optomised than this beta though.

I find it strange that people with a single 580GTX are either beating or getting the same fps as me and the only difference is that i've maxed out AA instead of just 2xAA when I have sli 480GTX's. Must be a Vram problem then I guess.

GPU: 4870x2
CPU: Q6600
Resolution: 1366x768
Average FPS: 40 (All Low with 2x AA)
Driver version: 10.9

I have to disable crossfire to make the game playable at all, tried 10.9/10.10 beta, even older drivers. Crossfire makes my fps worse rather than better. Quite frustrating since the card should run it much better.

I see a few of you are using the 11.10 previews. How stable do they seem to be? Any noticeable improvement? I am using 11.7s on a 4870x2.

Hi BA, i can't PM unfortunately, I have the same setup as you but I'm getting poor crossfire performance with my 4870x2. Do you play with cat Ai enabled or disabled. What sort of fps you getting?

5870 here, I get generally good gameplay, but often when moving to the next point or after a long period of time the FPS goes to hell, stuttering between smooth and unplayable every few seconds. So totally unplayable. Going out and back in tends to fix it temporarily, but its not good enough tbh. Hopefully this is sorted in the final release.

You sure its not lack of Ram/cpu speed? With my 5850's in crossfire at 2560x1600 resolution all settings on high with textures on ultra. I'm getting 40-60fps outside and 70-85fps in doors. Really smooth graphics on the bf3 beta drivers 10.10. I have a q9550 at 4ghz and 8gb of ram.

You've got to remember, AA-Post & 4x MSAA + Big open high detailed game = Masses of AA being applied = Big decrease in performance

27" 1920x1080 Monitor, 5870 Crossfire, all on maximum settings:

-Open areas: 25-35 FPS.
-Within the Forest, Gas Station and Hilltop area: 35-45 FPS.

It's semi-playable with everything as high as they can go, and i'm hoping it's just a BETA problem, but those 6970's look rather appealing now, especially the thought of having them in Crossfire.

Full AA is seemingly a massive fps hit, absolutely huge for me.

It's the biggest hit for me as well, but i hate not having it on, i would rather run with everything on low and keep AA on, which is what i might do when i play FPS games online, it also means i won't be upgrading all the time, and saving money for upgrades.

Anyone on 2560x1440 with GTX 480 in SLI?
Do you guys think SLI GTX 480 will run smooth in High setting @ 2560x1440, I think it should right?

You'd still max the game out without AA on I think. I am tempted to turn the AA down just so my room doesn't get so hot. My 480's have hit 105 degrees playing.

I'd be curious to see if bf3 is hitting over 4gb of ram.

What settings could I get away with at 1920x1080? Here's my full spec.

Windows 7 64bit
Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz @ 4GHz
Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58 (Socket 1366)
MSI Geforce 470 1280Mb GDDR5.
RAM: Corsair XMS3 6GB.
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA-II 32MB.

Wish I could get the open beta, but hey hoo.

Cheers guys

Sorry, just want to bump my old reply as no one has got back to me.

Sorry to bump:o

Medium to high id say, with dual 470's at 1920x1200 using the settings below.

I was getting 60-130 fps depending on the scenario in game, it seemed to stay round the 70 -80 area for the majority of a round. Didnt get round to trying it with a single card though. Gpu's are clocked at 750/1500/1674.

While playing bf3 I hit 4.84gb with only firefox, orgin and steam running on ultra.

I imagine those with 4gb then might be feeling a slight hold back on their fps. Though w7 does tend to use more ram if you have it, so maybe it's not a problem.

It's a shame the beta ended today, I only just started really getting into it.

I dunno mate, but it puzzles me, ok, I'm running @ 1680x1050 but I'm having no issues whatsoever, even with maxxed AA.

Yet people with far superior RAM & CPU combo's seem to be struggling.

(Win7 64Bit)

BF3 is much more GPU intensive, whereas BFBC2 was very CPU intensive. Same, because I bought a 2500k with BF3 in mind!
