BF3 Beta FPS thread

I imagine those with 4gb then might be feeling a slight hold back on their fps. Though w7 does tend to use more ram if you have it, so maybe it's not a problem.

It's a shame the beta ended today, I only just started really getting into it.

4GB of ram is still enough for any game out there. This was a Beta, the final release will be much more optimised and I'm sure it will scale very well.

well if it's more GPU intensive, it must be single GPU intensive as in crossfire ( 6950 @ 6970 x 2 ) it is worse on my setup than a single 6950 > 6970

That only means bad Crossfire scaling and has nothing to do with CPU bottleneck, unless you play at a tiny resolution.

I dunno mate, but it puzzles me, ok, I'm running @ 1680x1050 but I'm having no issues whatsoever, even with maxxed AA.

Yet people with far superior RAM & CPU combo's seem to be struggling.

(Win7 64Bit)

You've got a quad core, 4GB RAM and a very fast GPU.

Maxing out AA puts more load on your GPU and relatively low resolution evens it out.

You have a capable PC and it's running the game fine. Most people don't seem to have many problems at this resolution.

You might not be getting high fps either but the game still feels relatively smooth.

I wouldn't count on the final release being mightily better optimised since it's just wishful thinking and if anything the higher resolution textures will require faster GPUs.

4GB RAM is enough either way since the game doesn't use nowhere near as much on its own.

I struggled gaming with 4gb of ram at 2560x1600 resolution and when I stepped up to 8gb of ram with no other changes games instantly stopped stuttering etc.... so go figure?

I5 2500 5Ghz
2 HIS 6950's 2gb
8G Kingston
running 1920x1200

Only getting between 40/80 fps on ultra settings with all the bells and whistles, just hope ATI / EA pull there finger out for release

Well according to dice ultra wasn't actually enabled ingame, much like the BC2 beta all the options were there but only so many of them did anything.

Well I hope there is more options, I am such a graphics whore!! Another 580 gtx 3gb it is then..... But which one? Already have the phantom.

I'm waiting till it's released, see how well it runs on max on my 5870's, if it doesn't, i'll probably invest in 2 6970's or get a 3GB 580 and slowly make the move back over to an Intel, Nvidia system.

My 6950s were hardly used in crossfire with the beta, they never went above 55% usage in Caspian or Metro :( and that was at 1920x1080 on high

no way it will look as bad as beta bfbc2 looks better than that and im 110 percent sure all the finished look hasnt been added for bf3.

I know, i'm hoping Crossfire is optimised for the final release, as one card ran better than two in the Beta, we also have drivers to consider as well.

Well there has been screen shots posted of the campaign haven't there which look amazing, surely those will be the final textures used in the game?

You and me both, really want this game to push my hardware to its limits and in return provide me with good frames per second and visual wows ;)

Is BF3 making you people stressed aswel? I've got so many things I'm thinking about lol.

I did some re-testing on Caspian - [email protected], 4gb RAM, GTX 570

2560 x 1440 gets 30-50fps in ultra with 0xAA and 8xAF. 2560, AA and AF kills it though (~15-20fps in places)

It looks way better in 2560 x 1440 with no AA than it does in 1920 x 1440 with AA

Suprised it works so well on my old CPU really

On Caspian Border using the config in my sig with Ultra Settings selected gaming resolution of 1920 x 1080 I was getting 40 - 48 FPS average using FRAPS If it stays around there for release then I guess that wouldn't be too bad. With them enabling the Ultra settings and hopefully being better optimised and drivers being good :)

I have to ask as reading through the posts I feel a little inadequate

I5 @ stock
4gb ram
ATI 5870 @ stock .

How is it going to play on my 24 inch dell ?

My 5870 on it's own managed 25-35fps maxed, usually that would be a reasonably playable framerate, but BF:3 seems to run smoothly in the 40+ region.
