Not everybody games on a PC.
This is quite interesting really. I've read a lot about BF3 being coded for up to 8 cores/threads, but if it shows no improvment, it's just a white elephant.
That'll be interesting to see, as it'll be a good indicator of just how irrelevant CPU is to BF3 performance.Wow so glad i decided to upgrade me GPU not my whole mobo CPU etc.
See how it plays on Core 2 E6600 with MSI GTX560Ti![]()

Great find, SeeKified, and thanks for sharing it. My QX6700 is probably going to be a bottleneck after all! That's quite interesting - if you look here (Swedish site) they got quite poor results with Phenom II quads and dual-cores.
Not suprised at all to be honest, considering the previous techspot bench results of with the various CPU with a GTX580 at 1920 res, an even a i3 2100 is fast enough. When it is not CPU bound in a game, it is NOT the extra cores that would make a difference in frame rate, but the architecture of the CPU and cache size. The benech result above simple prove that on the i7 2600K, even two cores is fast enough and would not be slower 1 or 2 extra cores on the same CPU that has the same architecture and cache size. drunkenmaster has pretty much summed up what I've been saying all along...a game that CAN USE 4-6 cores doesn't mean the game NEED 4-6 cores. The game's support for using 6 cores would however benefit slower 6 cores CPU such as Phenom II X6 in helping reducing bottleneck when using Crossfire high-end graphic card comparing to on a Phenom II X4.![]()
