Hey guys, iv'e recently encountered an annoying problem. About half an hour into playing BF3 the game will crash and display 2 error messages.

Firstly i get

"Your computer is low on memory. Save your files and close these programs: Battlefield 3"

And I also get a scary long one saying:

"DirectX function "device->CreateTexture2D( &texDesc,desc.subResourceCount != 0 ? reinterpret_cast<const D3D11_SUBRESOURCE_DATA*>(desc.subResourceData) : 0, & textture->m_texture2d)" failed with E_OUTOFMEMORY: Ran out of memory. GPU: "AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series", Driver 11.12 (8.92-111109a-129966C-ATI). Free virtual memory: 1461860kB / 4294176kB. TOtal resource memory: 0kB. Make sure you have a supported graphics card with atleast 512 MB"

It's a bit of a puzzler considering I've got brand new Sapphire 6950 2gb which isn't even a month old.

When I searched for E_OUTOFMEMORY BF3 I tryed a few things out like clearing Origins download cache etc but none of it worked.

I'm pritty sure I've got the latest drivers and I havent OC'd the card. Rest of my system specs are:

AMD Phenon II x6 1090T @ 3.55 ghz
6gb DDR3
Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

See that wall over there?

Walk over to it, and then bestow your questions upon it. Repeat until you turn blue and collapse..

Sorry mate, jokes aside when you have issues like that you're pretty screwed tbh. I had so many issues with the game that I ended up having to reinstall Windows. Something to do with the registry IIRC.

Their site (the one you need to launch the game, forget what it's called now) may aswell be a brick wall. I asked for help so many times and they just flat out ignored me. Caused a stir in the end, and they resorted to deleting my posts.

They want to be careful. A mate of mine has just opened a class action lawsuit against Bethesda (Zenimax) because Elder Scrolls freezes his Xbox 360 and they ignored his pleas for help. In the end he lost it and hired a lawyer.

Have you disabled virtual memory and deleted your page file per chance?

erm google disable pagefile windows 7?

Some people do it to free up space on their SSD if they have one.. Basically it mirrors your ram and creates a file on the hard drive. If you ever run low on memory it uses the file..

However, BF3 guzzles vram. When your GPU runs out of it it can't use the physical ram to page from so uses your pagefile from the hard drive.

You shouldn't be having that issue with 2gb vram on your GPU but my mate had that very same error with his paging disabled running a 1gb 5870 card.

Yeah I just realised I did to free up space on my SSD. But as you say I shouldn't realy be having this problem with a 2gb 6850...Hmmm

No no, you will dude. It was hilarious. My mate was banging on about deleting it and I said "Sod that, you'll get memory errors".

He was saying he had deleted it like a year ago, then all of a sudden posts saying how in BF3 he was getting the message you are hahaha.

99% certain you're having the same problem man.. Turn it back on :)

Yes, I set it to 0 on my SSD. Now you have said it like that It makes me feel like I have done something drastically wrong here.

Just re enable it. Well, providing you're not going to run out of space lol.

It should sort it. I know it was identical to what was happening to my friend. He's a member here oddly enough ! used to be quite an active one until he met his bird :D

Ah right cheers!

Probably a silly question and I think I know what the answer is but just incase...

Windows is on my SSD (C: Drive) but BF3 is on my D: Drive. Can I just increase the page file size on my D: drive or does it need to be increased on my C: drive because thats what windows is on?

Click the "let windows manage my page size" when you highlight each one BF3 will NOT run without a page file. I'd set one on both C and D.
